Sennichimae Doguyasuji Shopping Street

A 150 m shopping street packed with shops selling plastic food samples, paper lanterns, illuminated signs, tableware and kitchen tools. It began in 1882, when second-hand dealers and general stores set up along the pilgrims' way from Hozenji to Shitennoji and Imamiya Ebisu Shrine, and it took its present form in 1970, when the arcade roof went on. Osaka was called the nation's kitchen, and the shops here sell the tools professional cooks use, takoyaki and okonomiyaki pans among them.
