立花通り(オレンジストリート)

Three minutes' walk west along the street one block south of the triangle park in Amerikamura is Tachibana-dori, the street that stands for stylish Osaka. Cafes, boutiques, homeware, imported furniture and interior shops line both sides of a street 800 m long, and at weekends it fills with young people. It was once written Tachibana-dori with a different character and existed from the end of the Edo period as the furniture street of Minami-Horie; in the Meiji period there were many second-hand tool shops, and in the years of high growth after the war it became known across the country as the furniture town. It is now called Orange Street, tachibana being a citrus, and while traditional Japanese furniture shops trading since before the war remain, it draws attention as a place where new culture starts. Minatomachi River Place and OCAT are next to it on the south.
