田辺三菱製薬史料館

The museum tells the story of the pharmaceutical industry that grew up on Doshomachi, together with the history of Tanabe Mitsubishi Pharma. The firm began in Enpo 6 (1678), when the first Tanabeya Gohee opened a shop at the south end of Tanabeyabashi, now Joanbashi, in Tosabori in Osaka, making and selling the compounded medicine Tanabeya furidashi-gusuri; it has worked on medicines for more than three hundred years since. The museum gathers in one place the records of that work and of the frontier spirit that carried the company through its difficulties.
