毛馬閘門

The Yodogawa flooded badly and often, doing great harm to the people along it, and the Meiji government began its great improvement works on the river in Meiji 29. At Kema a lock, finished in Meiji 40, and a weir, finished in Meiji 43, were built to control the water flowing into the old Yodogawa, the Okawa, and to help river traffic. Both are of brick, with granite facing at the important points. The lock and weir in use now were built in Showa 49 (1974), but the old first lock and the old weir of the Meiji period are preserved in the Yodogawa riverside park and are national important cultural properties.
