Osaka Water Museum

The building of the Water Museum was designed by So Hyozo and completed in Taisho 3 (1914). It was put up as the pumping station known as the former No. 1 Distribution Pump Station, part of the second waterworks expansion begun in Meiji 41 (1897) to secure the volume of supply needed as the city grew and its population rose sharply. That building has been conserved and put to use as the museum. It is a nationally registered tangible cultural property.
