Hori Shrine

The date of the shrine's founding is not known. Local tradition says that when a man holding the title of Suo no Kami built a castle here in the Ashikaga period, the deity was invited as the castle's guardian. The deities are Susanoo no Mikoto and Okuninushi no Mikoto. Six chikaraishi, lifting stones, stand in the precincts. They were used for tests and contests of strength and once lay in various places around the village, then were gathered at the shrine and dedicated. The precincts also hold old camphor, enoki hackberry, muku and ubamegashi oak trees, designated a protected stand of trees by the City of Osaka.
