真宗大谷派西光寺

A branch temple of the Shinshu Higashi Honganji school, with the mountain name Matobasan and Amida Buddha as its principal image. Tradition says a man called Matoba Saimon Taro turned to Jodo Shinshu in the Shoan era (1299-1301) and founded it. It took the name Saikoji in the Koji era (1555-1557), and Joen, the priest of that time, is counted as its restorer.
