About
The deities are Susanoo no Mikoto and Inadahime no Mikoto. The date of founding is unknown, though the shrine is also said to have been founded by Empress Jingu. Wakamatsu Shrine is the name locals use for it, taken from the visit of the retired emperor Go-Toba in Jokyu 3 (1221), when the temporary palace built for him was named the Wakamatsu Gosho. The shrine was formerly an auxiliary shrine of Sumiyoshi Taisha; in Meiji 5 (1872) it was separated from it and became a village shrine.
