About
The date of founding is unknown, but the shrine appears in the Engishiki Jinmyocho of 927. The building has a cypress-bark roof and is built in the ikkensha-nagare style; the chidori-hafu gable on the front and the decoration of the doors keep the ornate manner of the Momoyama period. In the Edo period it was an auxiliary shrine of Sumiyoshi Taisha. The main hall of Ikune Shrine is designated a tangible cultural property of Osaka Prefecture.
