The Symphony Hall

The Symphony Hall was built in 1982 as a project marking 30 years since Asahi Broadcasting went on air, the first hall in Japan for classical concerts only. It has a reverberation time of 2 seconds with a full house, the figure said to suit classical music best. All the seats surround the stage in an arena theater layout, and some of them let you follow the conductor's movements or watch a pianist's hands in detail, so the music can be watched as well as heard. There are 1,704 seats. The pipe organ is by Kuhn of Switzerland, with three manuals, 54 stops and 3,732 pipes.
