Umeda Arts Theater

The Main Hall of the Umeda Arts Theater stages the Takarazuka Revue above all, and also everything from musicals to classical music, opera and ballet. Its predecessor was the long-established Umeda Koma Theater, opened in 1956; in 1992 it was reborn on the present site as Theater Hiten, then took the name Umeda Koma Theater again, and in April 2005 it reopened after renovation with the name Umeda Arts Theater Main Hall. The 1,905-seat auditorium holds a reverberation time and listening level suited to classical music as well as to plays, and is designed so that the sound is clear and the playing on stage feels close at hand. The good plays and concerts built up at the Umeda Koma Theater are still staged here.
