Sumitomolife Izumi Hall

Sumitomo Life Izumi Hall is a shoebox concert hall of 821 seats whose ideal sound was sought in the Great Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, home of the Vienna Philharmonic. Since it opened in 1990 it has offered a place to share music with many people. The finely calculated design of the ceiling and walls, the chandeliers, and the seats and floor chosen for the way their materials reflect sound produce the reverberation that suits classical music, and a space like being wrapped inside an assembly of instruments. Stage and seats are close enough for performers and audience to hear one another breathe, and artists from around the world are fond of the hall.
