Shiroki Iris Garden opened in Showa 39 (1964) in a corner of Shiroki Park, which was made on the flood plain of the Yodogawa. The strolling garden covers about 1.3 ha and grows some 13,000 plants of about 250 kinds of Japanese iris, of the Edo, Ise and Higo lines; it is one of the Hundred Green Places of Osaka. The garden opens in May and June, and the Shiroki Park Fair and other events are held to match. People come from Osaka and from much further away while it is open.
