Noda-Ebisu Shrine

Noda Ebisu Shrine is known locally as Noda no Ebessan. When it was founded is unknown, but a granite stone in the precincts is carved with the date 1115, so it is thought to date from about then. Ebisu no Okami has been enshrined since ancient times as a god of fishing, and this area, then called Naniwa Yasoshima, lived by fishing. The Toka Ebisu festival each January fills the shrine with worshippers, and at the summer festival danjiri floats, drums and a tai-hoko sea bream float go in procession. It is worshipped as the tutelary shrine of the neighbourhood.
