Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka

Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka opened on 2 February 2022 in Nakanoshima. The collection ranges widely, over Western-style painting, Japanese painting, modern painting from abroad, contemporary art, prints, photography, sculpture and design. The works of Saeki Yuzo, a nude by Modigliani, works by Yoshihara Jiro, who led the Gutai Art Association, and major works by artists from outside Japan are highly regarded in Japan and abroad. The architecture takes its concept from the French word passage, meaning a pedestrian arcade or lane that anyone may walk through freely, the aim being an open base for art that people can cut through and sometimes meet art in, whether or not museums interest them. Alongside showing its varied collection, the museum takes on exhibitions across a wide range of fields as a new platform for art.
