Miyakojima Shrine

The shrine is said to have been founded in the late Heian period by the retired emperor Go-Shirakawa as a shrine of protection. The buildings burned in an air raid in the Pacific War and were rebuilt in 1949. A three-tiered stone hokyointo pagoda in the precincts, inscribed with the date 1304, is the oldest stone structure in the city and is designated a tangible cultural property of Osaka Prefecture.
