About
Asahi Gekijo in Shinsekai seats 200 and is five minutes from Dobutsuen-mae or Ebisucho station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji and Sakaisuji lines. It opened in Meiji 43 as a theatre for Kansai shinpa and was renewed in Showa 52 as a theatre for taishu engeki, popular theatre. It has tatami boxes close to the actors. Popular companies change month by month and play dramas of laughter and tears, and the shows are bright and enjoyable.
