A bridge over the Sengengawa, a watercourse that joined the Hirano River on the west with the Naka-Koya road on what is now the boundary with Higashi-Osaka. Until the filling-in began in Showa 42 (1967) the Sengengawa, about 1,800 m long, ran through the area, busy with people going by small boat from Higashinari into the city. More than twenty bridges crossed it, and Midoribashi was one of them. The Sengengawa is now a tree-lined road, and Midoribashi keeps its old name in the name of the crossing to the south, where a monument stands.
