Nishiki Bridge

Nishikibashi is a pedestrian only bridge on the south side of the Asahi Festival Hall. It is 55.1 m long and 10.6 m wide. It was originally built in Showa 6 (1931) as the Tosabori River movable weir on the Tosabori River, with water gates for purification under the bridge. When the bridge surface was given a decorative refit in Showa 60 (1985), it was renamed Nishikibashi. On the solid concrete arch structure, fired tiles of nishikie prints showing bridges from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period are displayed, and they recall the history of Nakanoshima.
