About
HEP FIVE is a shopping and leisure complex in the middle of Umeda in Osaka. The bright red Ferris wheel 75 m across, set into the upper part of the building, is the symbol of the place. Boarding is on the seventh floor, and the gondolas rise through the roof to 106 m above the ground, taking in central Osaka and, on clear days, the Akashi Strait. The 52 gondolas each seat four, play music and have heating and air conditioning. One turn takes about 15 minutes. At night the wheel is lit by computer-controlled floodlights.
