Shingonzaka Slope

The area that runs north to south from Tanimachi 9-chome to the west gate of Shitennoji, and east to west from Tanimachi-suji to Matsuyamachi-suji, has many temples and shrines. Some of its slopes are named after them and others take their name from the shape of the slope, and these seven slopes are called the Seven Slopes of Tennoji. At the top of Kuchinawazaka there is a literary monument to Oda Sakunosuke, and southeast of the Koen-kitaguchi intersection, where Matsuyamachi-suji meets Osakazaka, there is also a stone waymarker. Together with the slopes they form a historic townscape.
