生魂山 齢延寺

Founded in Genna 9 (1623) by the monk Gishun. It was built on Sanadayama as the family temple of the Inagaki, lords of Shima province, and moved from there to the present site in Kan'ei 9 (1632). In the Edo period it was known for its cherry blossom, called the Reien higan-zakura, and many cherry trees still stand. The graveyard holds Fujisawa Togai, who opened the Hakuen Shoin school; his son Nangaku, who gave Tsutenkaku and Jintan their names; Nabei Katsuyuki, a painter who stands for Showa Osaka; Sa Yukihide, whose real name was Toyonaga Toko, the foremost of the shinshinto swordsmiths, who forged for the Tosa domain; Hara Roryu, one of the three famous physicians of Osaka; and the Nishimura family of Rikuro Ojisan and the Maeda family of Super Tamade. People come through all four seasons.
