キララ九条商店街

Kujo escaped the fires of the war and still has the feeling of an old downtown quarter. In recent years it has also become familiar as the home of Kyocera Dome Osaka, the former Osaka Dome. The shopping street runs about 600 m west of Kujo station on the Chuo subway line, with about 150 shops: restaurants, fresh food, women's, men's and children's clothing, books and more. The nickname Kirara was chosen in a public call about ten years ago, when the arcade was rebuilt. It is said to have been picked for kirara, the mica that people of high rank in old China used to make mirrors, and for the sense of the cosmos the word carries. When the Orix Buffaloes play at Kyocera Dome Osaka the shops put on happi coats and uniforms to raise the mood and offer all sorts of services. The Kujo Festival is a popular mark of summer in the neighbourhood.
