About

Shikinagayoshi Shrine appears in Japan's oldest books, the Kojiki and the Nihon Shoki, and is a shrine listed in the Engishiki. It is said to have been established about 1,200 years ago, in the early Heian period, in 794. Its deities are Nagae Sotsuhiko no Mikoto and Kotoshironushi no Mikoto. At the autumn grand festival, held on the second Saturday and Sunday of October, futon-daiko drum floats and danjiri carts are pulled through the streets and kagura is performed.
