Abeno Harukas

Japan's tallest mixed-use skyscraper, connected directly to the Tennoji and Abeno terminal. The design balances landmark presence with a fit to the surrounding area: stepped setbacks create planted roofs, the exterior is glazed throughout, and a single crease down the west face stresses the height of 300 metres. Station, department store, art museum, hotel and observatory are gathered in what is called a three-dimensional city. It opened fully in March Heisei 26 (2014), with 60 floors above ground and five below, a height of 300 metres and a total floor area of about 306,000 square metres.
