Glico Museum

The company museum of Ezaki Glico, the confectionery maker known worldwide, which started out with a red box and the Goal-in mark as its trademarks. Ezaki Glico was founded in Taisho 11 (1921) by Ezaki Riichi, and it began when he used glycogen, a nutrient in the oyster broth that fishermen of the Ariake Sea were throwing away, in making caramels, and the taste won a reputation. The company went on to make Bisco, Pretz, Pocky and other sweets familiar in Japan and in countries across Asia and Europe, and it now has its head office in Nishiyodogawa ward, Osaka, working in frozen desserts, foods, health foods, dairy products, food ingredients and new materials as well as confectionery. The Ezaki Memorial Museum on the head office grounds shows that history, the packaging of many of the products, past advertising and campaigns, the Glico toys, and the founder Ezaki Riichi.
