Taiheiji has long been revered as the temple of jusanmairi, the visit made at the age of thirteen, and many children have received the wisdom and blessings of Kokuzo Bosatsu, said to be without limit. Further back, Taiheiji is said to have been one of the halls inside Shitennoji in the sixteenth century, to have fallen into ruin, and to have been rebuilt in Kanbun 3 (1663) by the priest Chozan Ginetsu, who restored the halls and opened it as a Soto sect temple. The grounds also hold the Kitayama Fudo Myoo, a cultural property designated by the city of Osaka, where Kitayama Juan, a noted physician of the Genroku era, entered his final meditation as a self mummified Buddha, and worshippers come to this as well without a break.",

"description_en": "Zofukuji, in full Seikozan Byakugoin Zofukuji, a Jodo temple whose principal image is a standing Amida Nyorai and which is the thirty-second stop on the Osaka Shin Shijuhachi Gansho Amida pilgrimage. It was founded in Keicho 7 (1602) by the priest Ryoyo Myotaku. The main hall burned in Meiwa 5 and was rebuilt in An'ei 2; the gate escaped that fire and the air raids on Osaka as well, and stands today as it did at the founding. Many of its parishioners were figures in the Kamigata publishing trade from the Edo period onward, so the temple has a history as the printers' and booksellers' temple of Osaka. Byakugoen, the perpetual memorial grave built around a seated Amida on an inverted lotus cast in Genroku 14 as a prayer for women's rebirth in the Pure Land, accepts ashes whatever the visitor's religion, in a very quiet setting.",

Its ties with China are close, so it is commonly called Nankinji. In the twelfth month of Meiwa 1 (1764) the Obaku monk Daiken Osho took the temple over from Soen, a Jodo school chief priest, installed the Chinese monk Taisei Osho as its restoring founder, rebuilt the main hall and made it a branch temple of the Obaku school. The Settsu Meisho Zue Taisei shows a thatched front gate and an irimoya (hip-and-gable) main hall carrying a pair of makara, imaginary great fish. In Meiji 18 (1885) two Cantonese trading houses that had come to Osaka from Nagasaki, Rikosei and Dofutai, acted as promoters, and together with benefactors including Japanese traders they rebuilt the main hall, the worship hall and the front gate in Chinese style.
