        "description_ja": "寛永2年（1625）、東横堀川と木津川とを結んで開削された長堀川（延長約2500m、幅員30～40m）に最初に架けられた橋。「心斎橋」「信濃橋」とともに、大阪における重要な役割をもった橋で、いずれも江戸幕府が管理する公儀橋であった。明治時代に入って河川の埋め立てが始まり、かつて「なにわ八百八橋」と形容されるほど多く架けられていた大阪の橋も次第に姿を消していった。長堀橋もそのひとつだ。現在は記念碑が建っているほか、地下鉄の駅名としてその名を残している。",
        "description_en": "The first bridge built over the Nagahori River, which was cut in Kan'ei 2 (1625) to join the Higashi-Yokobori River with the Kizu River; the channel was about 2,500 m long and 30 to 40 m wide. With Shinsaibashi and Shinanobashi it was one of the bridges with an important part to play in Osaka, and all of them were kogi-bashi managed by the Edo shogunate. From the Meiji period the rivers began to be filled in, and the bridges of Osaka, once so many that people spoke of the eight hundred and eight bridges of Naniwa, gradually disappeared. Nagahoribashi was one of them. A monument stands there now, and the name lives on as the name of a subway station.",

        "description_ja": "現役の橋としては、市内で最古。豊臣秀吉が大阪城を築城した際に、東横堀川の開削に伴って架けたとされる。天明7年（1787）に残された記録によれば、当時は橋長約54m、幅員5.9mの木橋であった。江戸時代には公儀橋として幕府が直轄管理をし、大阪城と船橋を結ぶ重要な地位を占め、また橋詰の北東側には西町奉行所が設置されて、行政の中心地ともなっていた。現在の橋は大正12年（1923）に、本町通を市電道路として拡幅した際に架け替えられたもの。3連の鋼アーチを、石づくりの橋脚で支えるという重厚な構造になっている。昭和54年（1979）からも、各部の腐食に伴い、3年の月日を費やして補修と美装化が行われている。",
        "description_en": "The oldest bridge in the city still in use. It is held to have been built when Toyotomi Hideyoshi raised Osaka Castle and the Higashi-Yokobori River was cut. A record left in Tenmei 7 (1787) gives it as a wooden bridge about 54 m long and 5.9 m wide. In the Edo period it was a kogi-bashi, managed directly by the shogunate, and held an important place linking Osaka Castle with Funabashi; the west city magistrate's office stood at the north-east of its foot, which made this a centre of government as well. The present bridge was rebuilt in Taisho 12 (1923) when Honmachi-dori was widened for the tram road. It has a heavy structure of three steel arches carried on stone piers. From Showa 54 (1979), as the parts corroded, three years were spent on repair and on making it handsome again.",
