    "description_ja": "土佐堀川に架かっている橋で、付近には日本銀行大阪支店をはじめ、府立中之島図書館、中央公会堂など、有名な近代建築が点在している。初代の橋は江戸時代、当時日本一の材木商だった淀屋によって架けられた、橋長約65m／幅員約4mのもの。橋名は、その淀屋にちなんでつけられた。淀屋家は堂島米市場や天満青物市場、さらに雑喉場（ざこば）魚市場の形成に多大な貢献をしたといわれるが、宝永2年（1705）突如として闕所（けっしょ）処分とされ、家が断絶となった歴史が残っている。当時の橋は明治18年（1885）の大洪水のため流失した。現在の橋は、大正11年（1922）から始まった第1次都市計画事業の一環として意匠設計の懸賞募集が行われ、昭和10年（1935）に完成したもの。デザインがたいへん優れ、周辺の環境とも調和しているなどの理由で、大阪市が行った橋に関する意識調査結果では、市民にとって最も魅力を感じる橋に名が上がっている。橋上を一日に7万人が渡り、6万台の車が通る。",
    "description_en": "Yodoyabashi crosses the Tosabori River, and well known modern buildings are dotted around it, among them the Osaka branch of the Bank of Japan, the prefectural Nakanoshima Library and the Central Public Hall. The first bridge was built in the Edo period by the Yodoya, then the foremost timber merchants in Japan, and was about 65 m long and about 4 m wide. The bridge is named after them. The Yodoya family is said to have contributed a great deal to the formation of the Dojima rice market, the Tenma vegetable market and the Zakoba fish market, but in Hoei 2 (1705) they were suddenly subjected to kessho, the confiscation of their property, and the house came to an end. The bridge of that time was washed away in the great flood of Meiji 18 (1885). The present bridge was completed in Showa 10 (1935), after a prize competition for the design was held as part of the First Urban Planning Project that began in Taisho 11 (1922). For its very fine design and its harmony with the surroundings, it was named the bridge that citizens find most attractive in a survey on bridges carried out by the city of Osaka.",
