Its grounds of about 11 hectares keep roughly 170 species and 1,000 animals, and it is busy with visitors as an oasis in the city centre. The displays are ecological ones that reproduce the landscape of an animal's habitat as far as possible and show how it lives there: Penguin Park and Sea Lion Wharf, the reptile house IFAR, and the African Savanna Zone, home to hippos, giraffes and lions.
